The Institute of Inorganic Chemistry of the Czech Academy of Sciences will participate in a bilateral project supported by funding from the INTER-EXCELLENCE II program, specifically the INTER-ACTION subprogram – LUAUS25. The project aims to strengthen collaboration between Czech and American scientists across various scientific disciplines.
The project, titled "Implementation of the Crystallographic Model of the Theory of Atoms in Molecules into the JANA2020 Program," will involve scientists from the Institute of Inorganic Chemistry of the Czech Academy of Sciences (led by Dr. Miroslava Litecká) and the Institute of Physics of the Czech Academy of Sciences (led by Dr. Monika Kučeráková). On the American side, experts from the prestigious University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) and the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) will contribute their expertise.
The primary objective of the project is to develop a tool for the experimental analysis of the electronic structure and chemical bonding of molecules using single-crystal X-ray diffraction. This approach will not only enable experimental validation and refinement of quantum chemical calculations but also open new avenues for research in molecular chemistry.
We wish our colleagues great success in the implementation of the project!
