Young Scientist from IIC Among World’s Top Researchers and in a New Scientific Project

Petra Špringer Šimonová, who is based at the University of Chemistry and Technology in Prague (VŠCHT) and also collaborates with the Institute of Inorganic Chemistry of the CAS, took part this summer in the prestigious Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting. Together with other talented young researchers from the Czech Republic, she had the opportunity to engage in discussions with the world’s leading scientists on the latest trends and challenges in research.

Petra is also involved in a project that has received support from the Czech Science Foundation (GAČR) for 2025. The team, led by Prof. Willi Pabst from VŠCHT Prague in collaboration with our colleague Petr Bezdička, focuses on more precise identification of the glassy phase in silicate ceramics and refractory materials – a key area for understanding their properties and practical applications. The project is built on critical thinking, methodological rigor, and the courage to explore new approaches, which makes it exceptional both scientifically and educationally.

These two examples highlight how the combination of young scientists, international experience, and interdisciplinary collaboration brings valuable outcomes – from inspiring debates with Nobel laureates to new methodological advances in materials research.
